Current Medical Management of Maroteaux-Lamy (MPS VI)
There is no cure for MPS VI, but there are several treatment options that aim to improve the quality of life, slow disease progression, and minimize irreversible damage to tissues and organs.
Treatment options for MPS VI include symptom-based care as well as treatments that target the underlying enzyme deficiency, including enzyme replacement therapy and hematopoietic stem cell transplant (HSCT). Symptom-based care uses a variety of surgeries and other approaches like physical therapy to alleviate the most serious effects of MPS VI, and can be used with ERT or HSCT as part of the disease management.
NAGLAZYME is indicated for patients with mucopolysaccharidosis VI (MPS VI). NAGLAZYME has been shown to improve walking and stair-climbing capacity.
