How is MPS VI Treated?

There is no cure for MPS VI, but there are several treatment options that aim to improve the quality of life, slow disease progression, and minimize irreversible damage to tissues and organs.

Treatment options for MPS VI include symptom-based care (sometimes called palliative or supportive care) as well as treatments that target the underlying enzyme deficiency, including enzyme replacement therapy (ERT) and hematopoietic stem cell transplant (HSCT). Symptom-based care uses a variety of surgeries and other approaches like physical therapy to alleviate the most serious effects of MPS VI, and can be used with ERT or HSCT as part of the disease management.

The information provided on this site is not intended to suggest the appropriate therapy or course of action for any individual with MPS VI. It is important to discuss treatment options for MPS VI with your Physician.
